The Hairpin Leg Co Grey desk copper legs

These guys got in touch with me a few weeks ago because they thought my readers would be interested to learn about their gorgeous products…um, hell yes!!! I knew you guys would love this stuff as much as I do. I mean how much sleeker and sexier can you get? As the name suggests, they design and manufacture high quality hairpin legs, but they also produce tables and desks, shelving and seating, all made right here in the UK. The company was founded by Tom and Adam, a pair of English design engineers who live in Wiltshire and are dedicated to crafting quality handmade furniture. They started out in the workshop, using Adam’s granddad’s old welder to create their first sets of steel legs. Fast forward to today and they have a successful company that is dedicated to inspiring people to either upcycle old furniture or to use materials that they have lying around to make a bespoke new piece of furniture using their products.

The Hairpin Leg Co Suspense Shelf 2
Design fanatics Tom and Adam were inspired by Henry P. Glass’s wartime design of hairpin legs. This clever design was a stylish solution to the need for sturdy furniture legs made with minimal materials and it is still popular today. And with the offering from The Hairpin Leg Co it is easy to transform everyday objects and recycled materials into functional furniture. For example, that vintage suitcase you love so much could be mounted on to a pair of furniture feet and transformed into a great storage table. Or maybe that off cut of white marble effect IKEA worktop you have left over from your kitchen renovation could be transformed into a stylish desk. Perhaps you’re looking for something a bit more rustic and decide to source a unique piece of solid reclaimed wood tree trunk to make into a little side table. Or maybe you want to go the industrial look and decide to make a coffee table from a slab of polished concrete. No problem, there are hairpin legs to suit all these ideas and more.

The Hairpin Leg Co Grey desk 3

If you don’t fancy going down the DIY route though you can purchase ready made tables and desks that have a simple Scandinavian look with a retro feel. The hairpin legs have been combined with a beautiful Formica coated birch table top which provides a very hard wearing and wipe clean surface, perfect for working or eating at. You can also get a matching bench or an oak stool to go with your table.

The Hairpin Leg Co Hairpin Bench

If you’re looking to create a bespoke family dining table with an industrial feel, the range of industrial legs on offer will be perfect. The sturdy legs are capable of handling the largest and heaviest loads allowing you to create tables using anything from scaffold boards to thick cut timber slabs. So if you’ve been unable to find that perfect family dining table you’ve been imagining, it no longer matters as you can create it yourself.

The Hairpin Leg Co Square Industrial Legs

Or if it’s shelving you’re after, The Hairpin Leg Co. can help with that too. The Prism shelf brackets offer a clean, modern approach to shelving. They coordinate particularly well with mid-century décor and geometric patterns and are available in either raw steel or black. The other option is the Suspense shelf which have a simple, strong design that is a little more industrial while still giving a nod to Mid Century influences.

The Hairpin Leg Co Prism Shelf 2

I pretty much love everything on offer from The Hairpin Leg Co. If my flat wasn’t so small and already filled to bursting point I’d certainly be stocking up on shelving and I’d get a new dining table. If we ever manage to move to a bigger place, these guys will be top of my list when it comes to redecorating. What do you guys think? Are you as excited about this discovery as I am? I’ll leave you with a few more beautiful images to inspire you before we get to the good bit…the giveaway!

The range of products The Hairpin Leg Co offer is incredible. I’d choose some clear finish coffee table legs and use them to create a table. For the table top I’d use slices of brances, then put a piece of glass on top so there would be a feature of the legs and the top!

I’d also buy a smaller set of legs and make a small bench for my 2 year old nephew to sit at so he could eat at the coffee table.

  20. I would get the hairpin table in grey and use it for the PC and printer.

This is such a coincidence to come across- about a year ago I got a bit obsessed with finding furniture with these type of ‘legs’ on, and I never even knew that hairpin was the term used for them, or that there was a whole shop dedicated to buying that type of furniture! How fun!
The white hairpin table would be my perfect blogging/writing desk for my bedroom, all I’d need to do is find an equally pretty chair to go with it!
